We stopped by Clearview Center this morning to check on the Family Gras preparations. The parking lot in front of Sears has been fenced off and the first trailers have arrived. Family Gras kicks off this Friday when gates are scheduled to open at 4 PM.
The New Orleans RV & Camping Show will be held this weekend at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. Show organizers say that the show will feature over 150 brands. Admission is $10 for adults. Kids 15 and under are admitted for free.

As we reported in December, McAlister’s Deli will take over the former O’Henry’s space at 8859 Veterans Blvd. They aren’t the only tenant moving into the building, however. A carved out section of just over 950 square feet hit the market for lease. The space is being offered by John Moss with L+A Retail.
Payless ShoeSource confirmed Friday that the company would begin closing all company-owned US stores. The retailer operates 2 stores on Veterans Blvd. and another in Elmwood. All 3 stores are expected to close as a part of this proceeding. Liquidation sales are reported to start as early this tomorrow. At one time the company also operated stores at the Esplanade Mall and across from Clearview Mall.
Fat Boy’s Pizza has been active on social media sharing photos of their new space on Metairie Road. The giant sized pizza concept plans on opening at the end the month.

Spirit Airlines added nonstop flights from Louis Armstrong International Airprot to Denver, Co and Austin, Tx. In May the discount airline plans to begin seasonal service to Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport.
The new Zuppardo’s Supermarket building is shaping up nicely with the walls now in place. Once complete the new 45,000 square foot building will replace the existing building next door. Construction is expected to be completed in October.
