Gordon’s, a locally-owned retailer of home decor & accessories, announced today that they are liquidating their inventory & closing their 7060 Veterans Blvd. location near the corner of Veterans Blvd. & David Dr. The liquidation sale starts today.

CC’s Coffee House will be relocating to a freestanding location in Old Metairie Village. They are currently located at an inline space in the same shopping complex.
The new location which is taking over a former Burger King will offer drive-thru service. It opens this Tuesday (2/26/19) at 5 am with a grand opening ceremony at 10 am.

The 2019 snowball season is officially upon us. Sal’s Sno Balls at 1823 Metairie Rd. in Old Metairie flipped their sign around to the “open” side earlier today. With warm weather already upon us, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Poof Cotton Candy just popped up in Lakeside Shopping Center. Poof hand mixes all sorts of unique flavors and makes their cotton candy locally every day. This and a salty snack from Popcorn Bistro which is the next kiosk over sound like a perfect parade route snack for this weekend.

They will be taking a spot presently occupied by Sally Beauty Supply and an adjoining suite which was once home to a check cashing store. This new location will be in Wilshire Plaza in the 700 block of Veterans Blvd. Sally Beauty Supply is currently finishing up the buildout on a new location in the same shopping complex.
Jason’s Deli has nearly 300 locations in 28 states. They feature a deli-style menu and an upgraded salad bar concept. The company hopes to begin construction in April with an opening date of late summer.
Kenner’s Cop A Donut will be moving from West Esplanade to a former Papa John’s Pizza shop at 2625 David Dr. in Metairie. The new store will feature curbside delivery of doughnuts to customer’s cars. They expect to open the new store within the next 3-4 weeks.
Conn’s HomePlus, a publicly traded Texas-based retailer, is taking over the former Rouses at 5245 Veterans Blvd. The grocery store closed in early 2018 and the property has recently seen a demolition and other construction work. The former Rouses portion of the building still stands while a connecting retail strip which once housed Creole Grille and 50 Fathoms Pet Shop has been demolished.
The new Conn’s store at just over 45,000 square feet will offer furniture, mattresses, appliances, and electronics. The company has been in the Baton Rouge market for about twenty years and is now making a move into the New Orleans metro area.
Conn’s opened a store in Harvey earlier this month. In addition to the Metairie and Harvey locations, another store will be opening this summer in Slidell. The Metairie store is slated for a June or July opening.
The Budweiser Clydesdales are in town for Mardi Gras. You’ll be able to catch them in two Metairie parades this year. On Friday night you’ll be able to see them with the Krewe of Excalibur while the Krewe of Argus welcomes the Clydesdales on Mardi Gras day. The Budweiser crew will also make appearances in Covington’s Krewe of Olympia parade and several Orleans parish parades.
An event was scheduled for this evening featuring the Clydesdales and NOPD horses however due to the rain forecast it has been canceled.
Main Squeeze Juice Co. opened their first Metairie location last year on Metairie Rd. and they’ll be adding a second location in front of the Veterans Blvd. Lowes Home Improvement store. This location will be joining the recently opened Kay Jewelers and a yet to be announced
Main Squeeze is a New Orleans based chain offering fast casual juices and smoothies. It first opened in 2016 in Lake Charles. The company is now focused on expanding nationwide.
